Introducing our Theme for the 2008 Convention!

Why did we pick “a good beginning never ends”?

Because together we will:

Celebrate 30 years of Kindermusik.

Celebrate the beautiful benefit a child gains for life.

Celebrate the relationship that grows from pleased parent, to loyal customer, to friend.

Celebrate you!

Raleigh TRIVIA!

Hi all,

The following information is provided to our Kindermusik convention attendees by Diane Colin and Julia Cobley, Kindermusik maestros who live and work in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. Diane Colin is pictured on the left (isn't she cute?!). Be on the lookout for a pix of Julia in a future post!

Did you know . . .

  • Raleigh lies in east-central North Carolina, where the hilly Piedmont region meets the flat coastal plain.

  • Raleigh was founded in 1792 as North Carolina's capital city.

  • It was named for Sir Walter Raleigh, who attempted to establish the first English colony on the shores of the new world in the 1580s.

  • Raleigh is only state capital to have been planned and established by a state as the seat of state government.

  • The city's founding fathers called Raleigh the "City of Oaks," and dedicated themselves to maintaining the area's wooded tracts and grassy parks.

  • Raleigh is the largest city in a metropolitan area known as the Research Triangle. RTP stands for Research Triangle Park and is home to many large corporations including Glaxo-Smith-Kline Pharmaceuticals, IBM, Reichold Chemicals, UNC TV and Research Triangle Institute.

Check back soon for more Raleigh trivia! In the meantime, reserve your room at the BRAND NEW Marriott Raleigh City Center located at 501 Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, NC. Just call Marriott group reservations at 866-260-1270 and request the KINDERMUSIK rate. Check out the new website here: http://www.marriottraleigh.com/

Until then,

Planning for Convention!

First of all....CONGRATS! once again: Elizabeth Hickey, who won two free nights and to Carol Mosman who won one FREE night at the Marriott in Raleigh during Convention! Contact me at cschor@kindermusik.com when you're ready to book!

If you missed our first Planning for Convention conference call on Tuesday, April 8, be sure to attend the next one scheduled for Wednesday evening, April 16, at 8:00pm. To register, check out the PDS calendar on the teachers lounge. All you have to do is click the live link and follow the instructions!

A bit of GREAT news to share with you TODAY! You can reserve your room at the Marriott City Center in Raleigh, NC now! Yes….even though the Marriott hasn’t opened yet, they’re taking reservations at our Kindermusik rate. All you have to do is to call Marriott Group Reservations at 866-260-1270 and ask for the KINDERMUSIK rate. Our rate, by the way, is $109 for single and double occupancy in King rooms and $115 for triple and quad occupancy in double/double rooms. To check out the Marriott City Center’s new website, click here: http://www.marriottraleigh.com/. It’s a marvelous facility, and we’re fortunate to have been able to lock in this great rate for your room! I’ve heard from a couple of you who are already registered at the hotel! Email me at cschor@kindermusik.com and let me know that you’ve reserved YOUR room for convention!

During our next Planning for Convention call, we’ll be sharing all sorts of tips and tricks, deals and steals, and web addresses that you can use in booking your airfare to convention. If you’re already searching for fares, be sure to check these THREE airports: Raleigh-Durham (RDU) / the closest airport to our convention site; Greensboro (GSO) / approx. 90 miles from Raleigh; and Charlotte (CLT) / which is about 175 miles from Raleigh, but if the airfare is “right” a nice drive down the highway won’t be all that bad!

Air isn’t the ONLY option! Have you considered checking with fellow educators in your area and booking a bus for your trip? Think about it….and if you can get 20 or more educators who are interested from your area, I’ll do the legwork in identifying a suitable vendor. Amtrak is another option, as their station is very convenient to our convention location.

So, attend the Planning for Convention call coming up on Wednesday evening, April 16, at 8:00p to learn even more. And, you’ll have the opportunity to share your ideas with others on the call as well!

Until then,

“Convention Connie”
